       “For a decade and a half, the annual Roadracing World & Motorcycle Technology Track Day Directory has urged readers to trailer, van, or truck their bike to a track day, rather than trying to ride it there and prep it in the pits. It’s sage advice, and it enhances the track day experience exponentially. So when I decided to ignore that advice, I decided to ignore it in a big way. 

        “Not only was I going to ride a motorcycle to a track day, I was going to ride to a track 339.8 miles away, do the track day, and then ride it home. And I was going to do it with only stuff I brought to the track on the bike or could obtain at or near the track. 

        ‘I know people do track days on bikes of all shapes, sizes and configurations. But I wanted to do this on a full-on sportbike, and I wanted to be sure I spent the day with my knee on the ground and hauling the mail. So that’s what I did. I rode a new Suzuki GSX-R1000R from Southern California to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, did a track day with TrackDaz, hung around Monterey for a day and then fired back down through California’s Central Valley to Los Angeles. And it worked…”
